Whispering Willow Dragon Free Pattern – Crochet a Mythical Textured Companion

Body

Using sage green yarn, create the plump, rounded body.

• R2: (sc, inc) around (9). Repeat [1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] 3 times.

Legs (make 4)

• R3-5: sc in each st around (9). Three even rounds to form the leg height.
• Stuff lightly: Fill each leg with a small amount of fiberfill, just enough to give it shape without being stiff.
• R6: (sc, dec) around (6). Repeat [1 sc in next st, sc2tog] 3 times.
• Fasten off, leaving a tail: Sew to the bottom of the body, two in front and two in back. Position them evenly so the dragon sits flat. The front legs should be slightly forward, the back legs slightly behind.

Tail

Using sage green yarn, this tail curls upward for a playful look.

• R1: Magic ring, 6 sc (6).
• R2: (sc, inc) around (9).
• R3-10: sc in each st around (9). Eight even rounds for the thicker base.
• R11: (sc, dec) around (6). Taper the tail.
• R12-20: sc in each st around (6). Nine even rounds for the slender tip.
• Fasten off, leaving a tail: Sew to the back of the body, curling the tail slightly upward. To achieve the curl, sew the base securely, then gently bend the tip and tack it down with a few stitches to the body or leave it free to curl naturally.

Spikes (make 5)

Using soft gold yarn, these small cones run along the spine.
