Knitted Bow Tie with Adjustable Band Pattern
Materials
- Worsted weight yarn in white (for the bow)
- Worsted weight yarn in red (for the center band)
- Knitting needles size US 8 (5mm)
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Adjustable elastic band (black and white)
- Scissors
- Sewing needle and thread
Gauge
15 stitches and 20 rows = 4 inches in seed stitch.
Abbreviations
- CO - Cast On
- K - Knit
- P - Purl
- BO - Bind Off
Instructions
Bow
- CO 20 stitches with the white yarn.
- Rows 1-20: Work in Seed Stitch (K1, P1; alternating each stitch every row).
- BO loosely and leave a long tail for sewing.
Center Band
- CO 6 stitches with the red yarn.
- Rows 1-5: Knit every row to create a garter stitch pattern.
- BO and leave a long tail for attaching.
Assembly
- With your yarn needle, use the long tail to sew the ends of the bow together, forming a circular bow shape.
- Place the red center band around the middle of the bow and sew the ends securely with the yarn tail.
- Attach the bow tie to the adjustable elastic band. Use the sewing needle and thread to securely stitch the bow tie onto the band.
Finishing
Weave in any loose yarn ends using the yarn needle.
