Whimsical Spooky Bat Pouch Pattern

Materials Needed:

• 65 yards (60 m) of DK Weight Yarn [3] in black, purple, and white
• 3.5 mm (E) crochet hook
• Small piece of felt (for eyes and mouth)
• Sewing needle and thread
• Stitch marker
• Optional: 8 cm Metal Purse Frame

Abbreviations:

ch = chain, sc = single crochet, dc = double crochet, sl st = slip stitch, inc = increase, dec = decrease.

Instructions:

Body:

1. Start with a magic ring.
2. Round 1: 6 sc in the ring (6)
3. Round 2: inc in each st around (12)
4. Round 3: (1 sc, inc) repeat around (18)
5. Round 4: (2 sc, inc) repeat around (24)
6. Rounds 5-8: sc in each st (24)
7. Round 9: (2 sc, dec) repeat around (18)
8. Round 10: (1 sc, dec) repeat around (12)
9. Begin stuffing the pouch, then continue to Round 11.
10. Round 11: dec around (6)
11. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Wings (make 2):

1. With purple yarn, ch 8.
2. Row 1: dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in next ch, 2 dc in last ch.
3. Row 2: ch 1, turn, 2 dc in last dc, 1 dc in next ch, sl st to attach to body.
4. Attach to both sides of the body using the stitch marker to secure.

Face:

1. Cut out small circles for eyes and a smile from felt.
2. Glue or sew them onto the body of the bat.

Assembly:

• If using a purse frame, attach it to the top securely.
