Materials Needed:

• Worsted weight cotton yarn in cream and festive colors (red, green, yellow)
• 4.5 mm (G) crochet hook
• Yarn needle

Gauge:

4” = 16 dc x 7 rows in double crochet.

Finished Size:

Approx. 6” tall and 5” wide.

Stitches Used:

• Ch - chain
• Sc - single crochet
• Dc - double crochet
• Sl st - slip stitch

Pattern Instructions:

Base of the Pouch:

1. Ch 32 (or desired width).
2. Row 1: Dc in the 4th ch from hook and in each ch across (30 dc). Turn.
3. Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in each dc across (30 dc). Turn.
4. Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 10” tall.
5. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Creating the Star Motif:

1. With yellow yarn, start with a magic ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 1, sc 5 into ring, pull tight. Join with sl st to first sc.
3. Round 2: Ch 3, in the same st, dc, ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, sl st to next sc; repeat for a total of 5 points. Join and fasten off.

Assembly:

1. Fold the base piece in half to form a pouch and sew up the sides using whip stitch.
2. Attach the star motif to the front of the pouch using a few stitches or by sewing it on securely.
3. If desired, weave ribbon through the top opening for a drawstring closure.
