A Cozy Heirloom for Your Tree: The Ember & Evergreen Bauble

This isn't your average Christmas bauble. The Ember & Evergreen is a richly textured, crocheted ornament designed to look like a tiny, hand-knitted sweater for your tree, featuring a stunning combination of deep forest green and a warm, glowing amber. It's a modern heirloom piece that brings a cozy, hygge-inspired feel to your holiday decor. Perfect for intermediate crocheters, this pattern creates a plump, satisfyingly weighted ornament that will be treasured for years.

Materials Needed

  • Yarn: Worsted weight (#4) yarn in two colors:
    • 20 yards of Deep Forest Green (Color A)
    • 15 yards of Warm Amber (Color B)
    • A small amount of cream or gold for the hanging loop
  • Hook: Size G (4.0 mm) crochet hook
  • Gauge: 4 sc and 4 rows = 1 inch in single crochet. Gauge is not critical, but consistency is important for a uniform shape.
  • Other: Stitch marker, yarn needle, fiberfill stuffing

Step-by-Step Instructions

Hanging Loop

With cream or gold yarn, ch 15. Sl st to first ch to form a loop. Fasten off, leaving a tail. Sew the loop to the top of the bauble (the starting magic ring). Weave in ends.

Optional Embellishment

Using Color B, embroider a small star or snowflake on the green section of the bauble using a simple backstitch.
