Materials
- Yarn: DK weight in two colors - Mint (Color A) and Cream (Color B)
- Needles: Size US 6 (4 mm) knitting needles
- Tapestry needle
- 6 inch zipper (for pouch)
- Button (for wallet)

20 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches in basketweave pattern
Abbreviations
- k: knit
- p: purl
Pattern
Tote Bag
Body:
- Cast on 80 stitches in Color A.
- Work in basketweave stitch pattern:
Rows 1-4: (K5, P5) repeat to end.
Rows 5-8: (P5, K5) repeat to end. - Repeat these 8 rows for 10 inches.
- Bind off and sew sides together, leaving top open.
Handles:
- Using Color A, pick up 12 stitches on the top edge of the bag.
- Knit in garter stitch (knit all rows) for 18 inches.
- Bind off and attach the other end to the opposite side of the top edge.
- Repeat for second handle.
Drawstring Pouch
- Cast on 56 stitches in Color B.
- Work in basketweave pattern for 6 inches.
- Switch to garter stitch and knit 1 inch.
- Thread yarn through the top row of stitches, gather and secure.
- Make a cord with Color A and thread through the garter stitch row to create a drawstring.
Buttoned Wallet
- Cast on 40 stitches in Color A.
- Work in basketweave pattern for 4 inches.
- Change to Color B for a flap and knit 2 inches in garter stitch, decreasing 1 stitch at each end every other row.
- Bind off, leaving a buttonhole.
- Sew a button onto the body of the wallet.
Zippered Pouch
- Cast on 44 stitches in Color A.
- Work in basketweave pattern for 5 inches.
- Bind off and fold piece in half with right sides together.
- Sew sides, leaving the top open.
- Attach a zipper to the opening.
