Cozy Knit Mug Warmer Pattern

Materials:

  • Yarn: Worsted weight, approximately 50 yards (color: cream)
  • Needles: Size US 8 (5mm) knitting needles
  • Button: 1-inch diameter
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors

Gauge:

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch

Abbreviations:

  • CO - Cast on
  • BO - Bind off
  • K - Knit
  • P - Purl

Instructions:

  1. Cast On: CO 15 stitches.
  2. Row 1: K all stitches.
  3. Row 2: P all stitches.
  4. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until the piece measures approximately 9 inches long (or the circumference of your mug).
  5. Buttonhole Row: K5, bind off 2 stitches, knit to end of row. (You will have 13 stitches on your needle)
  6. Next Row: K5, CO 2 stitches over the gap where stitches were bound off in the previous row, K to end of row.
  7. Continue in Garter Stitch: Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for an additional 4 rows.
  8. Bind Off: BO all stitches.

Finishing:

  1. Weave in all ends with a yarn needle.
  2. Sew the button onto one end of the warmer, aligning it with the buttonhole on the other end.
  3. Wrap the warmer around your mug and secure with the button.
