Knit Soft Baby Blue Buttoned Cardigan Free Pattern

Materials:
- Yarn: Worsted weight (4) yarn in baby blue
- Needles: US size 7 (4.5 mm) circular needles (24 inches)
- 3 wooden buttons (approximately 0.75 inches each)
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Stitch markers
Gauge:
20 stitches and 40 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch
Abbreviations:
- CO: Cast on
- K: Knit
- P: Purl
- BO: Bind off
- sts: Stitches
Instructions:
Body:
- CO 80 sts. Work in garter stitch (knit every row) until the piece measures 8 inches from the cast-on edge.
- Divide for sleeves: K20, place marker, K40, place marker, K20. Continue knitting in garter stitch.
- At each marker, increase by knitting in the front and back of the stitch every other row 4 times. You will have 88 sts after completing all increases.
Sleeves:
- Place body stitches on hold, work on sleeves.
- Transfer 20 sts from one side of the body to needles. Knit in the round until sleeve measures 6 inches, then BO loosely.
- Repeat for the other sleeve.
Yoke:
- Transfer all stitches back to needles. Knit across, maintaining garter stitch pattern, until yoke measures 2 inches from sleeve division.
- BO all stitches loosely.
Finishing:
- Weave in all loose ends using a yarn needle.
- Sew buttons evenly spaced along the front placket.
- Block the finished cardigan lightly to shape.
