Flower Power Crochet Square

Materials:

• Size H/8 (5.0 mm) crochet hook
• Worsted weight yarn in three colors: White (Color A), Yellow (Color B), Red (Color C), Orange (Color D)
• Yarn needle
• Scissors

Gauge:

4 squares = 10 inches (25 cm) using pattern stitch.

Abbreviations:

• ch - chain
• sc - single crochet
• dc - double crochet
• sl st - slip stitch
• sp - space

Instructions:

Center Daisy:

1. With Color B, make a slip knot and ch 4, join with a sl st to form a ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 11 dc in ring, join with sl st to top of ch-3. (12 dc)

Flower Petals:

3. Attach Color A in any dc. Ch 2, dc in same st, ch 1, skip next dc, (2 dc, ch 1) in each dc around. Join with sl st to first dc. (12 dc, 6 ch-1 sp)
4. Round 2: Sl st into first ch-1 sp, [3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc] in same sp, **ch 1, skip next 2 dc**, repeat from [ to ** around. Join with sl st to top of first dc. Fasten off Color A. (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1 in each petal)

Square Base:

5. Join Color C in any ch-1 sp. *Ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-1 sp (corner made), ch 2, skip next 3 dc*, repeat from * to * 3 more times, ending with sl st in top of first dc. Fasten off.
6. Join Color D in any corner sp. **3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc** in corner sp, **ch 1, sc in next ch-2 sp, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1, sc) in next ch-2 sp**, repeat from ** to ** around. Fasten off.

Finishing:

7. Weave in all ends with yarn needle.
8. Block your square to 6 inches.
