Materials

• Worsted weight yarn in 3 different colors (A: Base Color, B: Floral Color, C: Accent Color)
• 5.5 mm (I-9) crochet hook
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

Gauge

12 dc x 8 rows = 4 inches in floral motif pattern.

Finished Size

Approximately 13” wide x 12” tall

Pattern Notes

This tote is worked in rounds and uses the following stitches: chain (ch), double crochet (dc), slip stitch (sl st), and front post double crochet (fpdc). Make sure to check your gauge before you start!

Instructions

Base

1. With yarn A, ch 31.
2. Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 26 ch, 3 dc in last ch. Now work along the other side of the chain: dc in next 26 ch, 2 dc in last ch. (60 dc)
3. Join with sl st to the top of starting ch-3.

Floral Motif Side

4. Change to yarn B. Ch 1, sc in each dc around, join.
5. Ch 3, then in the next st, 5 dc (this forms the first petal), skip 2 sts. Repeat around.
6. Slip stitch to finish, tie off yarn.

Geometric Reverse Side

7. Turn the piece inside out to begin the reverse side.
8. With yarn C, ch 1, sc in each st around. 
9. Work in a repeating sequence of (dc in next 2 sts, skip 1, ch 1) around. Join.
10. Repeat for 4 rounds.

Handles

11. With yarn A, ch 60. 
12. Row 1: Sc across. 
13. Row 2: Ch 1, turn, hdc across.
14. Repeat Row 2 for a total of 8 rows. Tie off.

Assembly

15. Attach handles with slip stitch to both sides of your tote.
16. For the tie closure, create a ch of 60 with yarn A, then tie round the top of the bag.

Finishing

Weave in all ends and block the tote if desired. Enjoy your vibrant market tote!
