Materials Needed
- Worsted weight yarn in cream, sage green, and beige
- Crochet hook size H/8 (5.0 mm)
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st(s) = stitch(es)
- rep = repeat
Pattern Instructions
Center Circle
- With cream yarn, make a magic ring. Ch 2, work 12 dc into ring, join with sl st to first dc. (12 dc)
- Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, join. (24 dc)
- Ch 3, (2 dc in next st, dc in next st) around, join. (36 dc)
First Mandala Layer
- Switch to sage green. Ch 3, (2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts) around, join. (48 dc)
- Ch 4, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same st to form a shell, skip 2 sts, rep around, join. Fasten off.
Second Mandala Layer
- Attach beige yarn. Ch 3, (shell in ch-1 space, dc in top of shell) around, join.
- Ch 3, (2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 sts) around, join.
Transform to Square
- Join cream yarn, ch 3, dc in next st, (shell in ch-1 space, dc in next 3 sts) around, join.
- Corner shaping: ch 3, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in each corner shell, dc across each side.
- Rep Round 9 for two more rounds. Fasten off.
Border
- Join sage green. Ch 1, sc around in each st, working 3 sc in each corner. Join.
- Ch 3, shell in each sc around, join. Fasten off.
Finishing
- Weave in all ends with tapestry needle.
- Block to shape, ensuring edges are flat.
