Materials:
- Yarn: Approx. 1200 yds of light fingering weight yarn in ocean blue
- Crochet Hook: G/4.0 mm
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Stitches Used:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- tr = treble crochet
- sk = skip
- sp = space
Gauge:
13 dc and 6 rows = 4 inches
Instructions:
Foundation:
- Ch 5, sl st to form a ring.
Row 1:
- Ch 4 (counts as tr), 2 tr in ring, ch 2, 3 tr in ring, turn.
Row 2:
- Ch 4, 2 tr in first tr, *ch 2, sk 2 tr, 1 dc in sp, ch 2*, 3 tr in last tr, turn.
Row 3:
- Ch 4, 2 tr in first tr, *ch 1, 1 dc in dc, ch 1*, 3 tr in last tr, turn.
Row 4:
- Ch 4, 2 tr in first tr, *ch 2, sk 1 dc, 1 sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 2, sk 1 dc*, 3 tr in last tr, turn.
Row 5:
- Ch 4, 2 tr in first tr, *ch 3, sc in next ch-2 sp, ch 3*, 3 tr in last tr, turn.
Repeat Rows:
Repeat Rows 2-5 until the shawl measures approximately 72" wide and 30" long. End with Row 3 or Row 5 for a symmetrical edge.
Edging:
Work a round of sc evenly along the entire edge of the shawl, ensuring scallop and picot detailing at the edges by adding (sc, ch 3, sc) in every other ch-3 space.
Finishing:
Fasten off and weave in all ends. Block the shawl to open up the lace pattern.
