Cozy Textured Scarf Pattern

Materials

  • Worsted weight yarn (Approximately 200 yards in golden color)
  • US size 8 (5 mm) knitting needles
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • Measuring tape

Gauge

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in textured stitch pattern.

Abbreviations

  • k = knit
  • p = purl
  • st(s) = stitch(es)
  • BO = bind off
  • RS = right side
  • WS = wrong side

Instructions

Starting the Scarf

  1. Cast on 30 stitches (this will give you a scarf approximately 8 inches wide).

Textured Pattern

  1. Row 1 (RS): *k1, p1; repeat from * to end of row.
  2. Row 2 (WS): *p1, k1; repeat from * to end of row.
  3. Rows 3-4: Repeat Rows 1-2 two more times.
  4. Row 5 (RS): *k2, p2; repeat from * to end of row.
  5. Row 6 (WS): *p2, k2; repeat from * to end of row.
  6. Rows 7-8: Repeat Rows 5-6 two more times.
  7. Repeat these 8 rows until the scarf measures approximately 60 inches long or your desired length.

Finishing

  1. Bind off all stitches loosely knitwise.
  2. Using a tapestry needle, weave in all ends securely.
  3. Block the scarf by lightly steaming or wetting it and laying it flat to dry, ensuring it maintains its shape.

Final Measurements

Your finished scarf should measure approximately 60 inches long and 8 inches wide. Feel free to adjust the length and width by casting on more or fewer stitches or knitting fewer rows as desired.
