Colorful Granny Square Blanket Pattern

Materials:

• Worsted weight yarn in multiple colors (blue, purple, green, red, white, orange, brown, lilac)
• Crochet hook size H/5.0 mm
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

Gauge:

Each granny square measures approximately 6 inches x 6 inches.

Abbreviations:

• ch - chain
• sl st - slip stitch
• sc - single crochet
• dc - double crochet
• sp - space

Instructions:

Granny Square:

1. Start: Make a slip knot and ch 4. Join with a sl st to form a ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 2 dc in ring, *ch 3, 3 dc in ring*; repeat * to * two more times, ch 3, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. (12 dc, 4 ch-3 sp)
3. Round 2: Sl st to first ch-3 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 3, 3 dc in same sp, *3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc in next ch-3 sp*; repeat * to * two more times, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3.
4. Round 3: Change color, sl st to first ch-3 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 3, 3 dc in same sp (corner made), ch 1, *[3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc] in next ch-3 sp, ch 1*; repeat * to * two more times, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3.
5. Round 4: Continue as established, changing colors every row, until square reaches desired size.

Assembly:

1. Repeat the granny square instructions with various colors until you have enough squares to form your desired blanket size.
2. Lay out your squares in a pattern you like before joining.
3. Using a tapestry needle and yarn, sew the squares together using the whip stitch or mattress stitch.
4. Once all squares are joined, choose a color and sc around the entire blanket to finish the edges.

Finishing:

Weave in all ends with a tapestry needle. Block your blanket if desired to smooth out any unevenness in shape.
