Charming Chubby Fish Plushie
Materials:
- Yarn: Bernat Blanket Yarn (or similar bulky yarn), 1 skein in Aqua
- Yarn: Bernat Blanket Yarn (or similar bulky yarn), small amount in Bright Yellow (for details)
- Hook: US Size J (6.0mm)
- Notions: Fiberfill stuffing, safety eyes (12mm), tapestry needle, scissors
Gauge:
Approximately 8 stitches and 6 rounds = 4 inches in sc.
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- inc = increase (2 sc in same stitch)
- dec = decrease (sc2tog)
- sl st = slip stitch
Instructions:
Body:
- Starting at the nose, create a magic ring.
- Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring. (6)
- Round 2: Inc in each stitch around. (12)
- Round 3: *Sc in next stitch, inc in next stitch* repeat around. (18)
- Round 4-8: Sc in each stitch around. (18)
- Round 9: *Sc in next stitch, dec* repeat around. (12)
- Round 10: *Dec* around. (6)
- Stuff the body with fiberfill as you go and close off with a sl st, leaving a tail for sewing.
Fins (Make 2):
- Ch 5.
- Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in next ch, sc in last ch.
- Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.
Tail:
- Ch 7.
- Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, *dc in next ch, sc in next ch* repeat across.
- Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.
Assembly:
- Sew fins onto each side of the fish body securely.
- Attach the tail to the back center of the fish.
- Using the yellow yarn, embroider scales or details as desired.
- Attach safety eyes just above the mouth and stitch a simple smile.
