Adorable Knitted Teddy Bear Sweater
This pattern will guide you through knitting a lovely sweater for a teddy bear. It features a beautiful blue color with floral embroidery. The finished sweater will keep your teddy bear warm and stylish.
Materials Needed:
- Yarn: Soft worsted weight yarn in light blue (approximately 100 yards)
- Yarn: Soft worsted weight yarn in orange for the teddy bear (if you are crafting a full bear)
- Knitting needles: Size 8 US (5 mm)
- Embroidery thread in various colors (yellow, pink, green)
- Embroidery needle
- Scissors
- Teddy bear (to measure for fit)
Gauge:
20 stitches and 26 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch.
Abbreviations:
- CO - Cast On
- St(s) - Stitch(es)
- K - Knit
- P - Purl
- RS - Right Side
- WS - Wrong Side
Instructions:
Body of the Sweater:
- CO 40 stitches in light blue yarn.
- Row 1 (RS): K 1, P 1 across the row (this creates a ribbed edge).
- Row 2: P 1, K 1 across the row.
- Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until the piece measures 1.5 inches from CO edge.
- Now switch to stockinette stitch:
- Row 3: K across the row.
- Row 4: P across the row.
- Continue in stockinette stitch until the piece measures approximately 6 inches from the CO edge.
Shaping the Armholes:
- Next row (RS): K 15, BO 10 stitches, K 15.
- Continue in stockinette stitch on the remaining 15 stitches for an additional 2 inches.
- Switch to the other side and repeat same to match.
Neckline:
- After completing both sides, connect the yarn to work the neckline.
- CO 10 stitches at the center to create the neck hole. Working in the round, K until the neckline measures 1 inch.
- BO all stitches.
Finishing Touches:
- Weave in all loose ends using a tapestry needle.
- Using embroidery thread, stitch flowers on the front of the sweater. Aim for a combination of yellow and pink for the flowers with green stems.
