Lacy Baby Blanket Pattern

Materials

  • Yarn: 1000 yards of soft, gentle baby-friendly yarn in cream or white
  • Needles: US Size 8 (5 mm) knitting needles
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • Measuring tape

Gauge

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in the lacy pattern. Adjust needle size if needed to obtain the correct gauge.

Abbreviations

  • CO: Cast On
  • k: Knit
  • p: Purl
  • yo: Yarn Over
  • k2tog: Knit two stitches together
  • RS: Right Side
  • WS: Wrong Side
  • st(s): Stitch(es)

Instructions

Blanket Body

  1. CO 150 stitches (or adjust for desired width).
  2. Rows 1-6: RS: Knit every row (this will create a garter stitch border around your blanket).
  3. Row 7 (Start of Lacy Pattern): RS: k2, *yo, k2tog; repeat from * to last 2 stitches, k2.
  4. Row 8: WS: p all stitches.

Border

  1. Next Row: RS: k all stitches.
  2. Next Row: WS: p all stitches.

  4. Bind Off: RS: Bind off loosely in knit.

Finishing

  1. Weave in all ends using a tapestry needle.
