Independence Day Whimsical Firework Banner
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn in Red, White, and Blue (approx. 50g each)
- 4.5 mm (G) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Optional: string or twine for hanging
Gauge:
4 inches by 4 inches = 12 stitches and 12 rows in double crochet
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st = stitch
- sc = single crochet
- sp = space
Instructions:
Firework Motif (make 6: 2 in each color)
- With Red yarn, make a magic ring.
- Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), work 11 dc into the ring. Pull the ring tight and sl st to the top of the ch 3 to close the round. (12 dc)
- Ch 2 (counts as 1 dc), *dc in next st, ch 1, dc in same st* repeat from * to * around. Sl st to the top of the ch 2 to close. (12 dc, 12 ch 1 spaces)
- Switch to White yarn, sl st into the first ch 1 space. Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc in same sp, ch 1, *3 dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1* repeat around. Sl st to the top of ch 3 to close. (36 dc, 12 ch 1 spaces)
- Switch to Blue yarn, sl st into the first ch 1 space. Ch 5, *sc in next ch 1 sp, ch 5* repeat around. Sl st to the first ch 5 to close. (12 loops)
Assembly:
- Using a tapestry needle, tie each firework motif onto the string or twine, spacing them evenly (about 6-8 inches apart).
- Hang the firework banner in your desired location! Celebrate with joy and pride!
