Materials:

• Sport weight yarn (300-400 yards)

Gauge:

18 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in double crochet (dc).

Finished Size:

Approximately 60 inches wide and 24 inches long.

Stitches Used:

• Chain (ch)
• Double Crochet (dc)
• Slip Stitch (sl st)
• Shell Stitch (5 dc in same st)

Instructions:

Begin Shawl:

1. Ch 52.
2. Row 1: DC in 4th ch from hook. DC in each ch across. (50 dc)
3. Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), turn. DC in next dc. *Ch 2, skip 2 dc, shell stitch in next dc (5 dc), skip 2 dc, dc in next dc.* Repeat from * across.
4. Row 3: Ch 3, turn. DC in first dc. *Ch 2, skip shell stitch, dc in next dc.* Repeat from * across.
5. Row 4-12: Repeat Rows 2 and 3 alternating, until you reach desired length (about 20 inches). End with a Row 3.
6. Twist your shawl gently at the center point to create a spiraled effect. Adjust the twist for fullness.
7. Row 13: Ch 1, sc around the entire shawl’s edge. Join with sl st to the first sc.

Finishing:

8. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
