Crochet Vibrant Textured Ripple Tote Bag Free Pattern
Materials:
- Worsted weight yarn in multiple colors (at least 5 different shades)
- Size H/5.00 mm crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
- Stitch markers
Gauge: 16 stitches x 10 rows = 4" in ripple pattern
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sc = single crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st = stitch
- rep = repeat
- RS = right side
- WS = wrong side
Pattern:
Base:
- Ch 45 (to adjust size, keep in multiples of 5).
- Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 10 ch, (2 dc in next ch, dc in next 4 ch) 6 times, dc in next 10 ch, turn.
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in next 10 dc, (2 dc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc) 6 times, dc in next 10 dc, turn.
- Repeat Row 2 until the base measures 14". Fasten off.
Body:
- Join your first color at one end of the base.
- Row 1: Ch 1, sc in each dc across, turn.
- Row 2: Ch 3, dc in first sc, (dc in next sc, dc in next sc, 2 dc in next sc) across, turn.
- Continue this ripple pattern, alternating colors every 2-3 rows for desired effect.
- When the body measures approximately 12”, fasten off and weave in ends.
Straps:
- For each strap, ch 60, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc across (59 sc total), turn.
- Ch 1, sc in each sc back across, fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
- Attach straps at inside top edges of the bag with tapestry needle, ensuring they are even.
