Vibrant Textured Ripple Market Bag Pattern

Materials Needed:

• Worsted weight cotton yarn in 3 contrasting colors (A, B, C)
• 5.5 mm (I) crochet hook
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle
• Measuring tape

Gauge:

15 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in ripple stitch pattern.

Pattern Notes:

• The bag is worked from the bottom up.
• Feel free to mix and match colors to suit your style!

Bag Base:

Chain 25.
Row 1: HDC in 2nd chain from hook, HDC in each chain across. (24 HDC)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. HDC in each stitch across.
Repeat Row 2 until the base measures 10 inches.

Ripple Stitch Rows:

Switch to Color A.
Row 1: Ch 2, DC in first stitch. *Skip 2 stitches, 5 DC in next stitch, skip 2 stitches, 1 DC in next stitch.* Repeat from * to * until the end. (You will have [# of ripples] ripples). 
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. HDC in each stitch across.
Change to Color B and repeat Row 1.
Change to Color C and continue alternating colors every 2 rows until reach desired height (approx. 12 inches).

Forming the Top:

For the top edge, HDC in each stitch for 2 rounds using Color C to finish it.

Handles:

Make 2: 
Ch 30, HDC in 3rd chain from hook and in each chain across. (28 HDC) 
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Attach each handle to your bag approximately 4 inches from each side and sew securely.

Finishing:

Weave in all ends and block your bag if desired. Enjoy your new vibrant market bag!
