Crochet Vibrant Interwoven Diamond Tote Bag
Materials:
- Worsted weight cotton yarn in 3 colors (A, B, C)
- Size H (5 mm) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving ends
Gauge: Not crucial for this project, but aim for a tight stitch to keep the bag sturdy.
Finished Size: Approximately 15" wide x 14" tall (excluding handles)
Pattern:
Base:
- With color A, chain 32.
- Row 1: Hdc in the 3rd ch from hook, hdc in each ch across (30 hdc).
- Row 2: Ch 2, turn. Hdc in each hdc across (30 hdc).
- Work 30 rows in hdc, fasten off.
Body:
- Join color B at the bottom left corner of the base.
- Round 1: Ch 1, sc evenly around the perimeter, join with sl st to the first sc.
- Round 2: Ch 2 (counts as first dc), *dc in next st, skip next st; repeat from * around, join.
- Round 3: Ch 2, *fpdc around next dc post, bpdc around next dc; repeat from * around, join.
- Rounds 4-10: Repeat rounds 2 and 3, alternating colors A and C for a striped look.
- Continue alternating until the bag measures about 12 inches tall.
Handles:
- With color A, attach yarn on the side seam. Ch 60.
- Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc across (59 sc).
- Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc across (59 sc), fasten off.
- Attach each handle to the bag 5 inches from the side seams. Repeat for the other handle.
Finishing:
Weave in all ends with a tapestry needle. Block as desired.
