Textured Twisted Stitch Project Tote
Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn (approximately 200 yards)
- 5.0 mm (H) crochet hook
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- Stitch marker
Stitch Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
- tc = triple crochet
- st = stitch
- sl st = slip stitch
Pattern Instructions:
Base of the Tote:
- Ch 40 to start.
- Row 1: Hdc in the 3rd ch from the hook, hdc in each remaining ch across. (38 hdc)
- Row 2: Ch 2, turn. *Hdc in next st, hdc in next st, skip 1 st* repeat from * to * until the end. (19 hdc)
- Row 3: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across. (19 sc)
- Row 4: Repeat Row 2.
- Row 5: Repeat Row 3.
- Continue alternating between Rows 2 and 3 until the base measures approximately 12 inches long.
Body of the Tote:
- Continue working in the round: Join with a sl st to the first hdc of the last row.
- Round 1: Ch 2, dc in the same st, dc in each st around. Join with sl st to top of ch 2. (Total stitches will be equal to the number of stitches in the last row + 1)
- Round 2: Ch 1, sc in each dc around. Join with sl st.
- Round 3: Ch 2, *dc in next st, dc in next st, skip 1 st*, repeat from * to * around. Join with sl st.
- Round 4: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join with sl st.
- Repeat rounds 3 and 4 until the bag reaches your desired height, around 10-12 inches.
Finishing:
- Fasten off and weave in ends with a yarn needle.
- For handles, create two chains of 40, or desired length, and attach each to opposite sides of the bag using sc.
- Add a decorative tie using a length of yarn, if desired.
