Crochet Textured Layered Shell Pullover Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- DK weight cotton or bamboo yarn (600-800 yards depending on size)
- 5 mm crochet hook
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Measuring tape
Gauge:
16 stitches x 10 rows = 4 inches in layered shell stitch pattern (blocked)
Size: (Small, Medium, Large, X-Large)
- Chest Measurement: 34 (38, 42, 46) inches
- Length: 24 (25, 26, 27) inches
Abbreviations:
- ch - chain
- dc - double crochet
- sc - single crochet
- sl st - slip stitch
- st(s) - stitch(es)
Pattern:
Body
Note: This pullover is worked from the bottom up in one piece.
- Ch 100 (or the number needed to reach your desired width based on gauge).
- Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook, sc in each ch across. (99 sc)
- Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across.
- Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in each st across.
- Row 4: Ch 1, turn. *Sc in the next st, skip next st, dc in the following st, repeat from * across.
- Repeat Rows 3-4 until the piece measures 20 (21, 22, 23) inches from the starting chain.
- Split for armholes: Ch 1, turn. Sc 30 (35, 40, 45), leave remaining stitches unworked. (30 sc)
Left Front Panel
- Work in rows as before until the piece measures 8 inches (or desired length for the armhole depth).
- Shaping armhole: Ch 1, turn. Sc 29, skip last st, sc in next 29 sts.
Right Front Panel
Work similar to left until complete. Then combine panels by joining at the shoulder with a slip stitch.
Cowl Neck
- Ch 90 and join to form a loop.
- Round 1: Sc in each ch around.
- Round 2: Ch 3, dc in each sc around.
- Repeat Round 1 until cowl measures 6 inches tall.
- Finish off and sew to neckline of pullover.
Finishing:
Weave in all ends. Block the pullover to measurements and enjoy your cozy garment!
