Crochet Textured Color Blocked Cowl with Twisted Fringe Free Pattern
Materials Needed:
- 4 skeins of worsted weight yarn in your choice of colors (5 oz each)
- Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Gauge: 14 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in basic double crochet stitches.
Finished Size: Approximately 20 inches wide x 12 inches high.
Pattern Instructions:
Color Blocks:
- Begin with Color A. Chain 70.
- Row 1: Double crochet in the 4th chain from hook, and in each chain across. (68 dc)
- Row 2: Chain 2, turn. In the first stitch, work a front post double crochet (fpdc), then alternate back post double crochet (bpdc) and fpdc across. End with a bpdc. (68 stitches)
- Row 3-6: Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 8 inches.
- Change to Color B, and repeat Rows 1-6.
- Change to Color C, and repeat Rows 1-6.
Assembling the Cowl:
- Fold the piece in half, aligning the edges. Slip stitch the two shorter sides together to form a tube.
Adding Twisted Fringe:
- Cut 16 strands of yarn, 12 inches long for each color you used.
- Using a yarn needle, attach 4 strands of each color to the bottom edge of the cowl, spacing them evenly.
- Twist each set of strands together and secure them with a knot at the end.
Finishing:
- Weave in any loose ends with a yarn needle.
- Wear your colorful cowl and enjoy the warmth!
