Materials Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn in gray
- 4.0 mm crochet hook
- Polyester fiberfill stuffing
- 10mm safety eyes
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch marker
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- inc = increase (2 sc in 1 stitch)
- dec = decrease (single crochet 2 stitches together)
- st = stitch
- sl st = slip stitch
Body:
- Round 1: Magic ring, 6 sc (6)
- Round 2: Inc around (12)
- Round 3: (Sc, inc) around (18)
- Round 4: (2 sc, inc) around (24)
- Continue increasing until Round 10: (8 sc, inc) around (60)
- Rounds 11-30: Sc in each st around (60)
- Round 31: (8 sc, dec) around (54)
- Continue decreasing until Round 35: (3 sc, dec) around (24)
- Stuff the body firmly.
- Round 36: (Sc, dec) around (16)
- Round 37: Dec around (8)
- Fasten off and close the hole using a tapestry needle.
Fins (Make 2):
- Round 1: Magic ring, 6 sc (6)
- Round 2: Inc around (12)
- Rounds 3-5: Sc in each st around (12)
- Fasten off, leave a tail for sewing.
Tail:
- Round 1: Magic ring, 6 sc (6)
- Round 2: Inc around (12)
- Round 3: (Sc, inc) around (18)
- Round 4: (2 sc, inc) around (24)
- Rounds 5-6: Sc in each st around (24)
- Round 7: (2 sc, dec) around (18)
- Fasten off, leave a tail for sewing.
Assembly:
- Attach the fins to each side of the body.
- Sew the tail to the back of the body.
- Insert safety eyes between rounds 8 and 9.
- Embroider a nose using black yarn between the eyes.
Your manatee amigurumi is now complete and ready to cuddle!
