Materials:

• Medium-weight cotton yarn in two contrasting colors (Color A and Color B)

Stitches Used:

• Chain (ch)
• Single crochet (sc)
• Double crochet (dc)
• Slip stitch (sl st)

Instructions:

Petals (Make 5 in Color A)

1. Ch 6, sl st into the first ch to form a ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 11 dc into the ring, sl st to the top of ch 3 to join. (12 dc total)
3. Round 2: Ch 1, (2 sc in next dc, 1 sc in next dc) repeat around, sl st to join. (18 sc total)
4. Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Inner Petals (Make 5 in Color B)

1. Repeat the Petals pattern, but change to Color B after Round 1.

Assembly:

1. Layer one petal of Color A and one of Color B, offsetting them slightly for a layered effect.
2. Using the tail from the Color A petal, sew the two layers together at the center.
3. Add the remaining petals around the center, alternating colors, until all are attached.
4. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

Finishing:

1. Attach a brooch pin or safety pin to the back of the floral piece using yarn.
