Materials

• Yarn: Worsted weight in two colors (brown and cream)

Instructions

Upper Wings (Make 2)

1. With cream yarn, make a magic ring.
2. Round 1: CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), 11 DC into the ring. Join with a SL ST to top of CH 3. (12 DC)
3. Round 2: CH 3, 1 DC in same stitch, 2 DC in each stitch around. Join with a SL ST. Fasten off cream. (24 DC)

Lower Wings (Make 2)

1. With cream yarn, make a magic ring.
2. Round 1: CH 3, 11 DC into the ring. Join with a SL ST. (12 DC)
3. Round 2: CH 3, (1 DC in next stitch, 2 DC in next stitch) around. Join with a SL ST. Fasten off cream. (18 DC)

Edging

1. With brown yarn, attach yarn to any DC.
2. SC around each wing, working 2 SC in each DC at the tips to maintain the shape. Join with a SL ST. Fasten off.

Body and Antennae

1. With brown yarn, CH 12.
2. SC in second CH from hook and across. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
3. Fold in half and wrap the center to form the body. Sew onto the wings.
4. Antennae: With brown yarn, CH 8, fasten off. Attach to the body.

Finishing

Use the tapestry needle to weave in all ends and secure the structure. Shape and smooth the butterfly as needed.
