Crochet Elegant Textured Poncho with Fringe Free Pattern

Materials

  • Worsted weight yarn in cream, approximately 900 yards
  • Crochet hook size G (4.0 mm)
  • Darning needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors

Abbreviations

  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • st(s) – stitch(es)
  • sl st – slip stitch

Pattern

Main Poncho Body

  1. Ch 85 (or desired width for neck), join with sl st to form a round.
  2. Round 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch around, join with sl st. (85 sts)
  3. Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in each st around, join with sl st.
  4. Round 3: Ch 3, *dc in next st, ch 1, skip 1 st*, repeat from * to * around, join with sl st.
  5. Repeat Round 3 until the piece measures 24 inches from the cowl neck.

Fringe

  1. Cut yarn into 14-inch pieces.
  2. Attach one fringe piece to the bottom of every other stitch by folding the yarn in half, pulling the loop through the stitch, and threading the ends through the loop.
  3. Trim fringe to ensure evenness.

Cowl Neck

  1. Join yarn at the neck edge.
  2. Round 1: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st.
  3. Round 2-10: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st. (Continue until the cowl is desired length)

Finishing

Weave in all ends. Block your poncho to shape if necessary.
