Elegant Lattice Breeze Shawl
Skill Level: Beginner
Materials:
- DK Weight Yarn (approx. 400 yards)
- 4.0 mm (G) Crochet Hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry Needle
- Measuring Tape
Gauge: 20 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in lattice stitch (blocked)
Stitches Used:
- Chain (ch)
- Single Crochet (sc)
- Double Crochet (dc)
- Slip Stitch (sl st)
- Shell Stitch (sh): [dc, ch 1, dc] in same stitch
- Lattice Stitch: (1 dc in next stitch, ch 1, skip 1 stitch) repeat
Instructions:
- Start with a slip knot, ch 60 (or desired width).
- Row 1: Sc in the second ch from hook, *ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next ch; repeat from * to the end. Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), *sh in the next ch-1 space; repeat from * until end. Turn.
- Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first st, *ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in next st; repeat from * to end. Turn.
- Row 4: Ch 3, *sh in the next ch-1 space; repeat from * until end. Turn.
- Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until desired length (about 60 inches).
- Finish with a border: Ch 1, sc evenly around the shawl, adding 3 sc in each corner. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Blocking:
Wet block your shawl to enhance the open lattice pattern, and allow to dry flat.
Final Size:
Approximately 20 inches wide and 60 inches long when laid flat.
