Crochet Elegant Lace-Edged Summer Shrug Free Pattern

Materials Needed

  • Yarn: Light weight, 3 or DK; suggested color: Cream
  • Crochet Hook: Size H/5mm
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Gauge

10 dc and 6 rows = 4 inches

Abbreviations

  • ch: chain
  • sc: single crochet
  • dc: double crochet
  • st: stitch
  • sk: skip

Instructions

Back Panel

  1. Ch 70.
  2. Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn. (67 dc)
  3. Row 2-40: Ch 3 (counts as a dc here and throughout), dc in each st across. Turn.

Side Panels (Make 2)

  1. Ch 38.
  2. Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn. (35 dc)
  3. Row 2-40: Ch 3, dc in each st across. Turn.

Sleeves (Make 2)

  1. Ch 30.
  2. Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn. (27 dc)
  3. Row 2-15: Ch 3, dc in each st across. Turn.
  4. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Lace Edging

  1. Join yarn to any corner of a panel.
  2. Round 1: Ch 1, sc evenly around the edge, working 3 sc in each corner. Join with sl st to first sc.
  3. Round 2: Ch 3, [dc, ch 1, dc] in same st, sk 1 st, *[dc, ch 1, dc] in next st, sk 1 st; repeat from * around. Join with sl st to top of beginning ch-3.
  4. Round 3: Ch 4, [2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in each ch-1 space around. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of beginning ch-4.
  5. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Assembly

  1. Block each piece to dimensions.
  2. Seam side panels to back panel at shoulders using a tapestry needle and matching yarn.
  3. Attach sleeves to body by sewing along armhole edge.
  4. Weave in all ends thoroughly.
