Crochet Elegant Geometric Lace Shawl Free Pattern
Materials:
- Lightweight yarn (approximately 800-1000 yards)
- Crochet hook size G/6 (4 mm)
- Tapestry needle for weaving ends
- Scissors
Gauge:
18 stitches and 10 rows in double crochet = 4 inches.
Adjust your hook size if necessary to obtain the gauge for the stitch pattern.
Finished Dimensions:
Approximately 70 inches wide x 30 inches tall.
Pattern Instructions:
Shawl Body:
- Start by making a foundation chain of 210 stitches.
- Row 1: Double crochet in the 4th chain from the hook, and in each chain across. Turn.
- Row 2: Chain 3 (counts as first double crochet), skip the first stitch, *double crochet in the next stitch, chain 1, skip the next stitch; repeat from * across. End with a double crochet in the last stitch. Turn.
- Row 3: Chain 3, double crochet in the first chain-1 space, chain 1, *double crochet in the next chain-1 space, chain 1; repeat from * across. End with a double crochet in the top of the chain-3. Turn.
- Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until the shawl reaches your desired length, or until you have approximately 15 lace sections.
Edging:
- For the final row, chain 1, then single crochet in each double crochet and chain space across.
- In the corners, make 3 single crochets to give the shawl a rounded finish.
- Fasten off and weave in all ends with a tapestry needle.
Blocking:
To enhance the lace pattern, block your shawl by wetting it lightly and pinning it into shape. Allow it to dry completely before wearing.
