Delicate Textured Featherlight Shawl Pattern
Materials:
- 5 skeins of soft cotton blend yarn (approx. 200g each)
- Crochet hook size G/6 (4.0 mm)
- Stitch markers
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving ends
Gauge:
10 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in double crochet.
Finished Size:
Approximately 60 inches wide and 30 inches long at the center point.
Stitches Used:
- Chain (ch)
- Double Crochet (dc)
- Shell Stitch (5 dc in the same st)
- Skip (sk)
- Repeat (rep)
Instructions:
- Foundation Row: Ch 165.
- Row 1: Dc in the 4th ch from hook, dc in each ch across. (163 dc)
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn. *Sk 2 dc, 5 dc in the next dc (shell stitch).* Repeat from * to * across, ending with sk 2 dc, dc in last dc. (52 shell stitches)
- Row 3: Ch 3, turn. Dc in first dc. *5 dc in next ch-2 space of shell, dc in next dc.* Repeat from * to * across, ending with dc in top of turning chain. (71 dc)
- Row 4: Ch 3, turn. *Sk 2 dc, 5 dc in next dc.* Repeat from * to * across, ending with sk 2 dc, dc in last dc.
- Rows 5-10: Repeat Rows 3 and 4 alternately until shawl measures approximately 30 inches from the foundation row.
- Final Row: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Fasten off.
- Edging: Attach yarn at any corner. Ch 3, *5 dc in next ch-2 space, sk next shell, sc in next dc.* Repeat from * to * around the edge.
- Weave in all ends with a tapestry needle.
Blocking:
Gently block the shawl by wetting it and laying it out flat. Adjust to shape as desired.
