Crochet Delicate Openwork Lace Shawl Free Pattern
Materials Needed
- Lightweight cotton or bamboo yarn (approximately 400 yards)
- 4mm crochet hook
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving ends
Gauge
10 double crochet stitches = 4 inches in width.
Abbreviations Used
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sk = skip
- sp = space
Instructions
Shawl Body
- Ch 50 (or desired width).
- Row 1: Dc in the 4th ch from hook, *ch 1, sk 1, dc in next ch; repeat from * across. Turn.
- Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in first ch 1 space, *ch 1, dc in next ch 1 space; repeat from * across. Turn.
- Row 3: Ch 3, dc in first ch 1 space, *ch 1, sk 1 dc, dc in next ch 1 space; repeat from * across. Turn.
- Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until desired length, ending with a Row 3.
Border
- For the border, ch 1 and work 1 sc in each dc and ch 1 space along the edges. Fasten off.
Finishing
Weave in all ends using a tapestry needle. Block the shawl if desired to enhance the lace pattern.
