Cozy Textured Crochet Phone Sleeve
Create a warm and textured crochet phone sleeve using simple stitches and a soft, bulky yarn. This handmade accessory is perfect for protecting your phone while adding a touch of handmade charm.
Materials Needed
- Yarn: Bulky weight yarn in a natural color
- Hook: 6.0 mm crochet hook
- Gauge: 8 stitches and 6 rows = 4 inches in pattern stitch
Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Foundation Chain: Start by making a foundation chain of 20 stitches. This should be the width of your phone. To do this, make a slip knot and yarn over, pulling through to create your first chain. Continue to yarn over and pull through until you have 20 chains.
Once you have your chain, join it with a slip stitch to the first chain, ensuring that the chain is not twisted. - Round 1: Chain 1 to begin. Now, work 1 single crochet (sc) in each stitch around the circle. You should have 20 single crochets in total. After completing the round, join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet to close the round.
- Round 2: Chain 2 (this counts as your first half double crochet (hdc)). Now, work 1 half double crochet in each stitch around. Remember, to make a half double crochet, yarn over, insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over again, pull through, yarn over once more, and pull through all three loops on your hook. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the chain 2 to close the round.
- Round 3: Chain 1 to start. This time, work 1 single crochet in the back loop only of each stitch around. This creates a lovely textured effect. After completing this round, join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet to close the round.
- Repeat Rounds: Continue to repeat Rounds 2 and 3 until your sleeve reaches the desired length, which should be approximately 6 inches or the length of your phone. Make sure to keep your tension consistent for a uniform look.
- Finishing: Once you have reached the desired length, fasten off your yarn by cutting a long tail (about 6 inches), pulling the yarn through the last loop on your hook, and tightening it. Weave in any loose ends using a yarn needle to ensure a neat finish.
Now you have your very own cozy textured crochet phone sleeve! Enjoy your new handmade accessory and the satisfaction of creating something beautiful with your own hands.
