Cozy Striped Blanket

This blanket is a charming and versatile piece, made using simple stitches and a combination of warm colors. Whether you want to keep yourself warm or decorate your living space, this blanket is a great project for beginner knitters!

Materials

  • Worsted weight yarn in the following colors:
    • Dark green (3 skeins)
    • Light green (3 skeins)
    • Beige (3 skeins)
    • White (2 skeins)
  • US Size 10 (6 mm) knitting needles (circular or straight)
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors

Gauge

16 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch.

Abbreviations

  • K = Knit
  • P = Purl
  • RS = Right Side
  • WS = Wrong Side
  • CO = Cast On
  • BO = Bind Off

Instructions

  1. Cast On: CO 120 stitches using the beige yarn.
  2. Row 1 (RS): K all stitches.
  3. Row 2 (WS): P all stitches.
  4. Repeat Rows 1 and 2: Continue for 10 rows to create a garter stitch base.
  5. Begin Stripes: Change to dark green yarn.
    • Row 11: K all stitches (dark green).
    • Row 12: P all stitches (dark green).
  6. Change to light green yarn:
    • Row 13: K all stitches (light green).
    • Row 14: P all stitches (light green).
  7. Change to beige yarn:
    • Row 15: K all stitches (beige).
    • Row 16: P all stitches (beige).
  8. Continue alternating colors every two rows, forming stripes until your blanket reaches approximately 60 inches long.
  9. Final Rows: After reaching the desired length, switch back to beige yarn for the final 10 rows:
    • Row 1: K all stitches.
    • Row 2: P all stitches.
  10. Bind Off: Once the final rows are completed, BO all stitches loosely.
  11. Finishing: Weave in all loose ends using a tapestry needle. You can gently block the blanket to help it lay flat if desired.

Care Instructions

Hand wash in cold water and lay flat to dry to keep your blanket looking beautiful.
