- US size 8 (5mm) knitting needles
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
Gauge
18 stitches x 24 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in garter stitch
Abbreviations
- CO: Cast On
- K: Knit
- BO: Bind Off
Instructions
- Cast On: CO 40 stitches. This will give a nice width for a cozy scarf.
- Row 1: K all stitches.
- Continue to repeat Row 1, knitting every row to create garter stitch, which has a lovely squishy texture perfect for scarves.
- As you knit, you will see the beautiful gradient effect develop with the blues transitioning smoothly into greens.
- Length: Knit until the scarf measures approximately 60 inches (150 cm) or your desired length. This makes it long enough to wrap comfortably around the neck multiple times.
- Bind Off: BO all stitches loosely to maintain elasticity along the edge.
Finishing
- Weave in all yarn ends using the tapestry needle.
- Gently wash and block the scarf to settle the stitches and preserve the fabric's elasticity.
