Colorful Crochet Granny Stripe Blanket

Materials

  • Worsted weight yarn in five colors (Coral, Pink, Light Blue, Dark Blue, Mint Green)
  • Crochet hook size H/8 (5.0 mm)
  • Pair of scissors
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge

16 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in Granny Stripe pattern.

Abbreviations

  • ch = chain
  • dc = double crochet
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • sp = space

Instructions

Starting Row

  1. Choose your starting color (Coral).
  2. Ch 56 (or multiple of 6 for wider blanket).

Row 1

  1. In the 4th ch from hook, dc. This counts as 1 dc + ch 1.
  2. Skip 2 ch, *dc in next ch, ch 1; repeat from * across row until 2 ch remain. Dc in the last ch. Turn.

Row 2

  1. Ch 3 (this counts as your first dc). In the first sp, dc, ch 1, dc.
  2. *In next sp, dc, ch 1, dc; repeat from * across row until last sp. In last ch, dc to finish the row. Turn.
  3. Change color to Pink at the end of this row.

Row 3

  1. Ch 3, dc in first sp, ch 1, dc in same sp.
  2. *In next sp, dc, ch 1, dc; repeat from * across row until last sp. In last ch, dc to finish. Turn.
  3. Change color to Light Blue at the end of this row.

Row 4

  1. Repeat Row 3 and change color to Dark Blue.

Row 5

  1. Repeat Row 3 and change color to Mint Green.

Continue Pattern

  1. Continue repeating Rows 3 through 5, changing colors as desired.
  2. Work until the blanket reaches your desired length (approximately 60 inches is recommended).

Finishing

  1. After reaching the desired length, fasten off and weave in all ends with a tapestry needle.
  2. Gently block your blanket if desired to even out the stitches.

Care Instructions

Machine wash gentle cycle, tumble dry low. Do not bleach.
