Materials

• Yarn: Bulky weight yarn in white, approximately 150 yards
• Needles: US size 10 (6.0 mm) circular needles, 16 inches long
• Darning needle
• Stitch marker

• Large fluffy pom pom (can be made or purchased)

12 stitches and 16 rows = 4 inches in 2x2 ribbing

Instructions

Brim

1. CO 72 sts. Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Place a stitch marker to mark the beginning of the rnd.
2. Work in a 2x2 ribbing pattern (K2, P2) for 6 inches. This creates the fold-over brim.

Body

3. Continue in 2x2 ribbing for an additional 5 inches.

Decreasing for the Crown

4. Rnd 1: (K2, P2) around.
5. Rnd 2: *(K2, P2tog), repeat from * around — 54 sts.
6. Rnd 3: (K2, P1) around.
7. Rnd 4: *(K2tog, P1), repeat from * around — 36 sts.
8. Rnd 5: (K1, P1) around.
9. Rnd 6: *(K2tog), repeat from * around — 18 sts.
10. Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail through the remaining stitches and pull tight to close the top of the hat. Secure the end.

Finishing

11. Sew the pom pom onto the top of the beanie.
12. Weave in all ends using the darning needle.
