Instructions

Granny Square (make 12)

1. Start with a slip knot and chain 4.
2. Join with a slip stitch to form a ring.
3. Round 1: Chain 3 (counts as first dc), then make 2 dc into the ring, chain 2. Repeat this pattern 3 times (you should have a total of 4 clusters of 3 dc). Join with sl st to the top of the beginning ch-3.
4. Round 2: Slip stitch to the first ch-2 space, chain 3, then 2 dc into the same space, chain 2, and 3 dc in the same sp. Repeat for each ch-2 space around. Join to the top of the ch-3.
5. Round 3: Slip stitch to the next ch-2 space. Chain 3, 2 dc in the same sp, chain 2, 3 dc in the same sp. Then, for each ch-2 space, repeat (join the rounds as before). You should have 4 corners.
6. Finish with a slip stitch and cut your yarn, leaving a long end to weave in.

Joining Squares

1. Arrange your granny squares in a layout of 3 squares across and 4 squares down, with colors alternating as desired.
2. Use a whip stitch to sew the squares together, joining along the edges where they touch.

Creating the Body

1. Once the squares are joined, fold it in half to form the body of the cardigan.
