Crochet Elegant Hanging Kitchen Towel with Button Loop Free Pattern

Materials Needed

  • Worsted weight cotton yarn in sage green and cream
  • Crochet hook size G/4.0 mm
  • 1 wooden button (approximately 1 inch diameter)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Abbreviations

  • ch - chain
  • sc - single crochet
  • hdc - half double crochet
  • sl st - slip stitch
  • st(s) - stitch(es)
  • rnd - round

Instructions

Top Loop Section

  1. With cream yarn, ch 12.
  2. Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn. (11 sts)
  3. Rows 2-6: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn.
  4. Row 7: Fold piece in half and join with sl st to first st to create a loop. Fasten off cream yarn.

Top Triangle Section

  1. Join cream yarn at edge of the loop. Ch 1, sc in each st around, making 2 sc in corners. Join with sl st. (22 sts)
  2. Rnds 2-6: Ch 1, sc in each st around, decreasing by 2 sts in each round at the triangle points. Continue decreasing evenly until 12 sts remain. Fasten off cream yarn.

Main Towel Body

  1. Join sage green yarn at base of triangle section. Ch 1, sc evenly across the base. (Width of the towel should be approximately 15 inches)
  2. Rows 2-40: Ch 2, hdc in each st across, turn.
  3. Row 41: With cream yarn, ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
  4. Row 42: Repeat row 41.
  5. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Finishing

  1. Sew the button onto the top of the loop section.
  2. Block the towel to measurements if needed.
  3. Hang your towel by looping it over an oven handle and securing with the button.
