Cozy Treble Crochet Blanket Pattern
Create a warm and inviting blanket using the treble crochet stitch. This pattern highlights the textured beauty of crochet with a soft, chunky yarn. Perfect for snuggling up on chilly nights, this cozy blanket is not only functional but also a beautiful addition to your home decor.
Materials Needed
- Yarn: Super bulky yarn in a soft cream color
- Hook: 10mm crochet hook
- Gauge: 4 treble crochet stitches and 2 rows = 4 inches
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Foundation Chain: Start by making a foundation chain. The number of chains should be in multiples of 4, plus an additional 2 chains. For example, if you want a blanket that is 40 inches wide, you might chain 82 (80 + 2).
- Row 1: In the 5th chain from the hook, make your first treble crochet (tr). To do this, yarn over twice, insert your hook into the chain, yarn over again, pull through (you will have 4 loops on your hook), yarn over and pull through the first two loops (you will have 3 loops left), yarn over again and pull through the next two loops (2 loops left), and finally yarn over and pull through the last two loops. Continue making a treble crochet in each chain across the row. Once you reach the end, turn your work.
- Row 2: Chain 4 (this counts as your first treble crochet). Skip the first stitch (the one right next to the chain you just made). Now, *yarn over twice, insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over, pull through (4 loops on your hook), yarn over and pull through the first two loops (3 loops left), yarn over and pull through the next two loops (2 loops left), yarn over and pull through the last two loops (1 loop left)*. This completes one treble crochet. Now skip the next stitch and repeat from * across the row. Make sure to end with a treble crochet in the top of the turning chain from Row 1. Turn your work.
- Repeat Rows: Continue repeating Row 2 until your blanket reaches your desired length. Keep in mind that the more rows you add, the larger your blanket will become. You can measure your progress as you go to ensure it meets your needs.
- Finishing: Once you have reached your desired length, fasten off your work by cutting the yarn, leaving a tail of about 6 inches. Pull the tail through the last loop on your hook to secure it. Finally, weave in any loose ends using a yarn needle to give your blanket a neat finish.
Now you have your very own Cozy Treble Crochet Blanket! Enjoy the warmth and comfort it brings, and feel free to experiment with different colors and yarn types for future projects. Happy crocheting!
