- Continue alternating colors (6 rnds cream, 4 rnds black) until the leg measures approximately 8 inches or desired length.
Heel Flap
- Using cream yarn, work across half the sts (24 sts) for the heel flap.
- Work back and forth in rows as follows:
- Row 1: *Sl1, k1; repeat from * across.
- Row 2: Sl1, purl to end.
- Repeat these two rows for a total of 24 rows.
Turn Heel

- Continue in this manner until all sts are worked, ending with a purl row. You should have 14 sts left.
Gusset
- With the right side facing, pick up and knit 12 sts along the edge of the heel flap. Place a marker to denote the beginning of the round.
- Knit across the 24 sts of the instep in stripe pattern (continuing the alternating colors).
- Pick up and knit 12 sts along the other edge of the heel flap. Knit across half of the heel sts.
Foot
- Continue knitting in the round, maintaining stripe pattern, until the foot measures approximately 7 inches from the back of the heel, or 2 inches less than the desired total length of the foot.
Toe
- Switch to the black yarn and proceed as follows for the toe decrease:
- Rnd 1: *k1, ssk, k to last 3 sts on needle, k2tog, k1; repeat from * for each needle.
- Rnd 2: Knit all sts.
- Repeat these two rounds until 8 sts remain.
- Break yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread through remaining sts and pull tight to close.
Finishing
- Weave in all ends.
- Block gently to shape.
