Cozy Ribbed Wrist Warmers
These wrist warmers are perfect for a beginner crocheter or knitter! They are made in a soft yarn that creates a beautiful ribbed texture and are designed to keep your wrists warm without sacrificing finger mobility.
Materials Needed:
- Yarn: 100g of medium weight (5) yarn, in your choice of colors.
- Needles: Size 5 mm (US 8) knitting needles or H/8 (5 mm) crochet hook.
- Stitch marker (optional).
- Scissors.
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
Gauge:
For knitting: 14 stitches x 20 rows = 4 inches in rib pattern.
For crochet: 12 stitches in the foundation chain + 12 rows = 4 inches in rib pattern.
Abbreviations:
- k - knit
- p - purl
- st(s) - stitch(es)
- BO - bind off
- ch - chain
- sc - single crochet
- bl - back loop
- sl st - slip stitch
Instructions:
For Knitting:
- Cast on 36 stitches.
- Row 1: *K2, P2* repeat from * to * across the row.
- Row 2: *P2, K2* repeat from * to * across the row.
- Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until the piece measures 8 inches long.
- Continue until piece measures approximately 8 inches from the cast on edge.
- Bind off all stitches loosely.
- Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing. Weave in the ends.
For Crochet:
- Chain 38 stitches, plus 1 for turning.
- Row 1: Single crochet in the back loop only across the chain (38 sc).
- Row 2: Chain 1, turn; single crochet in the back loops across (38 sc).
- Repeat Row 2 until the piece measures about 8 inches long.
- Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail, and fasten off. Weave in ends.
Finishing Touch:
Fold the finished piece in half, then either sew or slip stitch the sides together, leaving an opening for the thumb (about 2 inches from the bottom). Weave in all loose ends. Optionally, you can add a decorative edge or make a matching set for the other hand!
