Cozy Beanie and Neck Warmer Set

This project is a warm and cozy beanie and matching neck warmer, perfect for winter weather!

Materials

  • Worsted weight yarn in dark brown for beanie (approx. 100 yards)
  • Worsted weight yarn in olive green for neck warmer (approx. 150 yards)
  • US Size 8 (5 mm) knitting needles
  • US Size 7 (4.5 mm) knitting needles
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors

Gauge

18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch (with size 8 needles)

Abbreviations

  • K: Knit
  • P: Purl
  • St: Stitch
  • CO: Cast On
  • BO: Bind Off

Instructions

Beanie

  1. CO 80 stitches on the US Size 8 needles using dark brown yarn.
  2. Join in the round being careful not to twist your stitches.
  3. Work in 1x1 ribbing (K1, P1) for 10 rows.
  4. Switch to stockinette stitch (K every round) for 20 rows.
  5. Shape the crown:
    • K8, K2tog; repeat to the end of the round (72 stitches left).
    • K7, K2tog; repeat (64 stitches left).
    • K6, K2tog; repeat (56 stitches left).
    • K5, K2tog; repeat (48 stitches left).
    • K4, K2tog; repeat (40 stitches left).
    • K3, K2tog; repeat (32 stitches left).
    • K2, K2tog; repeat (24 stitches left).
    • K1, K2tog; repeat (16 stitches left).
    • K2tog around (8 stitches left).
  6. BO loosely and leave a long tail for sewing. Thread the tail through the remaining stitches and pull tight to close the top of the beanie. Weave in ends.

Neck Warmer

  1. CO 64 stitches on the US Size 7 needles using olive green yarn.
  2. Join in the round carefully not to twist your stitches.
  3. Work in 2x2 ribbing (K2, P2) for 24 rows or until desired height.
  4. BO loosely in pattern. Cut yarn and weave in ends.

Finishing
