This project is a vibrant and colorful tree cozy that combines both knitted panels and crocheted granny squares to add a splash of creativity to any urban environment. Materials

• Worsted weight yarn in multiple colors (approximately 100g per panel color)

Instructions

Knitted Panels

Note: Make multiple panels in various colors following the instructions below to match the tree's circumference. Recommended size: Panels approximately 10 inches wide and 20 inches long.

1. Cast on 35 stitches.
2. Row 1 (RS): Knit all stitches.
3. Row 2 (WS): Purl all stitches.
4. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until the panel measures approximately 20 inches in length.
5. Bind off all stitches and weave in ends.

Crocheted Granny Squares

Note: Create multiple granny squares to fit along the sides of the knitted panels. Each square should measure approximately 5x5 inches.

1. Start with a magic ring in a chosen color.
2. Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in ring, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2) 3 times into ring; join with sl st to top of beginning ch-3. (12 dc, 4 ch-2 spaces)
3. Round 2: Sl st in next 2 dc, sl st in ch-2 space, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same ch-2 space, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in each ch-2 space around; join with sl st to top of beginning ch-3. (24 dc, 4 ch-2 spaces)
4. Round 3: Sl st in next 2 dc, sl st in ch-2 space, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same ch-2 space, * ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 space; repeat from * around, ch 1; join with sl st to top of beginning ch-3.
5. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Assembly

• Sew the granny squares together in a row to match the height of the knitted panels, creating a decorative edge.
• Attach granny squares to the side of the knitted panels using the tapestry needle and matching yarn.
• Wrap the piece around the tree and join the ends using yarn and the tapestry needle, ensuring a snug fit.
