Materials

• Worsted weight yarn (Approx. 600 yards)
• Hook: 5.5mm (I/9)
• Stitch markers
• 1 button for closure
• Yarn needle for weaving in ends

12 stitches and 14 rows = 4 inches in double crochet

Instructions

Backpack Body

1. Foundation: Ch 36.
2. Row 1: DC in 4th ch from hook, DC across. (34 DC)
3. Row 2: Ch 3, turn, DC in each st across.
4. Repeat Row 2 until the piece measures 16 inches long.
5. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Flap

1. Ch 30.
2. Row 1: DC in 4th ch from hook, DC across. (28 DC)
3. Row 2: Ch 3, turn, DC in each st across.
4. Repeat Row 2 until the flap measures 9 inches long.
5. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Pockets (Make 2)

1. Ch 20.
2. Row 1: DC in 4th ch from hook, DC across. (18 DC)
3. Row 2: Ch 3, turn, DC in each st across.
4. Repeat Row 2 until each pocket measures 6 inches long.
5. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Assembly

1. Fold the body piece in half lengthwise and sew the sides together, leaving the top open.
2. Attach the flap to the back of the bag using the long tail.
3. Attach the pockets to the front as desired.
4. Attach the button for closure on the flap and the body.
5. Weave in all ends.
