Chic Urban Traveler Crochet Backpack
Materials
- Worsted weight yarn (Approx. 600 yards)
- Hook: 5.5mm (I/9)
- Stitch markers
- 1 button for closure
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
Gauge
12 stitches and 14 rows = 4 inches in double crochet
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st(s) = stitch(es)
- RS = right side
- WS = wrong side
Instructions
Backpack Body
- Foundation: Ch 36.
- Row 1: DC in 4th ch from hook, DC across. (34 DC)
- Row 2: Ch 3, turn, DC in each st across.
- Repeat Row 2 until the piece measures 16 inches long.
- Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Flap
- Ch 30.
- Row 1: DC in 4th ch from hook, DC across. (28 DC)
- Row 2: Ch 3, turn, DC in each st across.
- Repeat Row 2 until the flap measures 9 inches long.
- Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Pockets (Make 2)
- Ch 20.
- Row 1: DC in 4th ch from hook, DC across. (18 DC)
- Row 2: Ch 3, turn, DC in each st across.
- Repeat Row 2 until each pocket measures 6 inches long.
- Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Assembly
- Fold the body piece in half lengthwise and sew the sides together, leaving the top open.
- Attach the flap to the back of the bag using the long tail.
- Attach the pockets to the front as desired.
- Attach the button for closure on the flap and the body.
- Weave in all ends.
