Crochet Chevron Ripple Baby Blanket
Materials
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in two colors (soft mint green and creamy white) - approximately 400 yards of each
- Crochet Hook: Size H/8 (5.0 mm)
- Scissors
- Tapestry Needle for weaving in ends
Gauge
12 stitches and 6 rows = 4 inches in double crochet (dc) stitches.
Abbreviations
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sp = space
- st = stitch
- sk = skip
- sl st = slip stitch
Instructions
- Foundation Chain: Start by making a slip knot and chaining 136 stitches (this will create a blanket approximately 36 inches wide).
- Row 1: In the 4th chain from the hook, work 1 dc. Continue to dc in each chain across to the last chain. In the last chain, work 2 dc (this creates the corner). Turn your work.
- Row 2: Ch 3 (this counts as your first dc). In the next st, work 1 dc. *Skip the next 2 sts, in the next st work 3 dc (this creates the peak). Skip the next 2 sts, work 1 dc in the next st.* Repeat from * to * until you reach the last 3 sts. In the last 3 sts, work 1 dc, 1 dc, and 2 dc in the last st. Turn your work.
- Row 3: Ch 3, dc in the next st. Repeat the pattern from row 2, using the 2 colors alternately every two rows (2 rows of mint and 2 rows of white) to create a chevron effect. Make sure to create the peaks with 3 dc and skip 2 sts in between.
- Continue Rowing: Repeat Row 3 until your blanket measures approximately 36 inches in length or until you desire. Use the remaining yarn to add additional rows if you wish for a larger blanket.
- Last Row: To finish, you may want to work a row of single crochet (sc) across the top and bottom edges for a more polished look. To do this, simply sc in each stitch across, slip stitch to join in the last st, and fasten off yarn. Weave in all ends using your tapestry needle.
