Materials Needed
- Yarn: DK weight, 100% merino wool
- Colors: 5 skeins of seafoam green, 2 skeins of sandy beige
- Needles: US 6 (4mm) circular needles, 32 inches
- Gauge: 22 stitches and 30 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
Step-by-Step Instructions
Back Panel
- Cast on 110 stitches using the seafoam green yarn.
- Work in k2, p2 ribbing for 2 inches. This means you will knit 2 stitches, then purl 2 stitches, repeating this pattern across the row.
- After completing the ribbing, switch to stockinette stitch. To do this, knit every row for the next 18 inches.
- To shape the shoulders, bind off 5 stitches at the beginning of the next 8 rows. This means you will bind off 5 stitches at the start of each of these rows.
- Once you have completed the shoulder shaping, bind off the remaining stitches. Set the back panel aside.
Front Panel
- Repeat the same instructions as for the back panel until you reach a length of 16 inches.
- Begin neck shaping by binding off the center 20 stitches. This will create the opening for the neck.
- Work each side of the front panel separately. On each side, decrease 1 stitch at the neck edge every other row for a total of 5 times.
- Once you have completed the neck shaping, bind off the shoulder stitches in the same manner as the back panel.
Sleeves
- Pick up 60 stitches along the armhole edge using the sandy beige yarn.
- Work in k2, p2 ribbing for 2 inches, just as you did for the body of the sweater.
- After the ribbing, switch to stockinette stitch. Increase 1 stitch at each end of the sleeve every 6th row until the sleeve measures 18 inches.
- Once the sleeve reaches the desired length, bind off all stitches.
Assembly
- Sew the shoulder seams together.
- Set in the sleeves by attaching them to the armholes.
- Sew the side seams of the sweater, joining the front and back panels.
- Pick up stitches around the neckline with the seafoam green yarn.
- Work in k2, p2 ribbing for 1 inch around the neckline.
- Finally, bind off the neckline stitches loosely to ensure comfort.
Congratulations! You have now completed your Amalfi Coast Breeze Ribbed Sweater. Enjoy wearing your beautiful creation or gift it to someone special!
